Amaury Academy – SPAIN – March 2022

It is springtime and sunny day, on 26 & 27th of March, for all the riders attending the bodyboarding clinic organised by Gaizka for the Bakio Surf school.
Bakio is a municipality of Biscay in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in Spain, about 100 km from the French border.
ADAPTING MY TEACHING TO ALL RIDERS
Despite of the small conditions we had for these two days of Amaury Academy workshop were a sucess !
Technical workshops, video analysis, stretching and physical preparation trainings and nice riding sessions in small waves punctuated these two days.
The main point for this type of course is to spend the most quality time with everyone.
Then I am able to share good bodyboarding content such as technical and physical tips, video analisis but also talking about gear, waves, training, nutrition etc…
It is important to adapt my advice according to every rider.

A FIRST SUCCESS… TO BE CONTINUED
The local rider Genesio Ludovisi from the Surf Beat school organizes this bodyboarding training with Amaury Academy.
It was awesome to meet some of the local bodyboarding community and spend such a great day full of teaching.
We start the day with the technical part: installed on the beach with their board, I study with the riders the grip of the board,

After, we have a two-hours session in the waves. Then we went to a place called Maxlab Fisiosport for functional training and video analysis.
It is an important step so that the riders can better understand the technical advice I gave during the day.
On the video, the riders can see their maneuvers and we can watch them precisely together for them to progress.

It’s really interesting to share my knowledge and technique with bodyboarders of various ages who therefore set different goals.
The key is to adapt my speech so that everyone can understand the advice and adapt it to their level and purpose.
The next course in Italy with Surfbeat School will take place in June 2022, so hurry up and book your course as soon as possible!
Hope I can come back for a new Amaury Academy with this motivated team.

PURE OCEAN ENGAGEMENT

A WATERMAN & AN OCEAN LOVER
For me the Ocean is life, a moving life. It’s a source of well-being, It gives rhythm to my everyday life. It’s my practice ground,my playground, It’s what makes me feel better everyday. The Ocean represents 70% of the planet and 97% of water on earth. But the ocean is in danger with over-fishing and plastic pollution…
It’s a big challenge, we really need to take care of it.
In 2021, I decide to join the Pure Ocean, a French endowment fund created in 2017. Its main mission is to support innovative applied scientific research projects around the world, contributing to the protection of fragile marine ecosystems and biodiversity. And it is also a sports races and challenges promoter.
MY ENGAGEMENT & CHALLENGES
As a Pure Ocean ambassador, I want to raise awareness about science actions and innovations supported by Pure Ocean. They are big innovative scientific projects for Ocean protection and biodiversity. I also want to highlight projects supported by Pure Ocean and thus increase their reputation.
As a Pure Ocean ambassador, I will rely on both Amaury Academy and the World tour.
AMAURY ACADEMY & PURE OCEAN
For the first time, in March 2021, I have presented Pure Ocean projects and actions to the kids of my Amaury Academy. It has taken place in Sardina (Galdar, Gran Canaria) during a bodyboard course for kids aged 6-10. We are filmed and Interviewed by the France TV National broadcasting reporters, Eric and Mourad coming from Paris.
I explain to the kids attending the course the importance of caring for the ocean and the role that each of them can play in this challenge. Then I gave them a little bracelet « I am a Pure Ocean lover » just before we all declare in spanish : « we are Pure Ocean lovers » then we threw us into the water for class ! Thanks to Eric for the pictures.
I want to continue developing my Amaury Academy around the world, to keep on transmitting my values to all the young people who love bodyboarding and love the ocean.
In the educational context of my bodyboard classes, I want to make them understand the importance of the ocean in their lives, and the urgency of taking care of it.
I will organize not only beach cleaning, for example, but also presentations of scientific projects and I will involve local actors in the countries where I teach.
MY RACE FOR PURE OCEAN
Besides financing research projects, Pure Ocean also promotes races and athletic challenges, with the objective of drawing maximum attention to threatened ecosystems
and highlight the importance of protecting them. As an athlete and two-time world champion, I also want my journey on the IBC World Tour to be a Race for Pure Ocean. You will hear about it !
Let’s hope that after Covid, sports and international competitions will resume, for the good of all !

AFRICAN BODYBOARD ON THE TOP
It is now a recurring event that always gives me great joy : an Amaury Academy course in Senegal, West Africa.
I love flying to Senegal, which is not toofar from Gran Canaria. I am invited by my friend Aymeric Senior and the SENEGLISS Surf and bodyboard school.
From beginners to quite skilled riders, I really enjoy warm water and nice beach breaks and the friendly atmosphere out there.

I fly to Dakar, Senegal for a bodyboard master-class organized by Aymeric Senghor and the club Senegliss.
In this tropical zone, the Atlantic ocean is much warmer than in Europe and riding a bodyboard in warm water always reminds me Reunion Island.

It is the day before Christmas eve, on the 24th of December that young motivated riders spend a full day of Amaury Academy. Thanks to the big organization by Oceanside, we really can work efficiently together. We also get excellent pictures of the day.

When I am in Portugal for the World Tour step in Nazaré, I take time to go for an Amaury Academy in Porto, Portugal.
My friend, Manuel Centeno, an inspired and talented Bodyboard World Champion, invites me in his Surf and Bodyboard School Linha de Onda.
The course takes place on the Matoshinos beach with motivated teenagers and adults.
Bodyboard has a strong community in Portugal.

Amaury Academy – MADEIRA – Sept 2016
For the first time in my life, I fly to Madeira, a volcanic Portuguese island in the Altlantic Ocean.
The four days, from 1st to 4th of September 2016, are very busy, the riders really motivated and the organisation is at the top.
Thanks to Monica who leads MAD SEA « Bodyboard and More » for the organisation of this course.
I really enjoy this island that remembers me Reunion Island with the black sand and rocky beaches.
