TO LEAVE & LIVE AGAIN

In 2012, after the death of my friend Matthew by a shark attack, in Reunion Island, I realized that I had to leave Reunion and to reinvent me. It’s been 10 years already that I arrived in the Canary Islands and my life has changed for the better.

Enjoy this video which quickly summarizes my journey since my arrival in the Canary archipelago. I took on challenges, I got joys and successes and I will always carry with me the link I have created with the Canaries
The moral of history ? Never give up, search and find a plan B.

Amaury Academy – REUNION ISLAND – August 2016

This course Amaury Academy in Reunion Island is a very special one for me.

It is organised by the Reunion Island Surfind League for young bodyboarders that have few opportunitis to ride eacause of the shark crisis that forbides free surfing. In quite safe conditions, I could make them progress and enjoy riding sessions.
Thanks to Eric Sparton, the president of the LRS for his confidence and to Kevin Hoarau and Laury Grenier for joining me on this academy.

I can’t help feeling so sad for all my mates in Reunin Island that can’t ride waves anymore. I remember my endless sessions in a safe and free ocean when I was a young man and I realize that I was a lucky teeenager aver there.
Reunion Island is a now a lost paradise for waves lovers.

After my second world title, RIDING ZONE – the only French TV program dedicated to extreme sports- decides to produce a full report about me, titled THE RIDER IN HIGH SPIRITS.
The film crew came to Gran Canaria, to discover my lifestyle, my favourite spots, my projects and what makes my success.

2010 – BACK TO REUNION ISLAND TO CELEBREATE MY TITLE

SHARING MY JOY WITH MY ISLAND

Some days after my victory in Sintra (Portugal) in early September 2010, I am back home to Reunion island.
It is not a normal trip for me, because some days before, in Sintra, I won the title of World Champion.
Reunion Island is on fire, as I am the first Reunion Islander, French and European rider ever to win a professional World Title in a sliding sport.

The plane lands and I get out of the delivery zone a bit tired after a 11-hours flight.
As the exit gates open, I am surprised by an incredible and unforgetable welcome by many friends with a big ovation in the arrival hall.
I feel deeply moved by their presence, their happiness and their cheers.
La Réunion lé la !!!

By the way, after the interviews at the airport and meetings, time is for joy and euphoria, with the night party on the beach on Boucan Canot, in St Gilles-les-Bains.
A big crowd was here, simply happy and proud to share my unseen World Title.
I am so grateful for all Reunion riders who made me discover the bodyboard and supported me all to get this title and still today and ever.

We are on 2010 Sept, one year later he will die in a shark attack, just down this beach.

All these moments are really precious because it is pure joy and they happen BEFORE the dramas, before the 30 victims attacked by sharks in Reunion Island since 2011.

It is a moment of grace because we are all alive and happy and none of us knows what will happen after.
