Final Arica Cultura 2022

El Gringo, Flopos – Mayo 2022

For my come back on the World Tour in 2022, my first step is Arica (Chile). It all begins by a sort of a bliss coming down on El Gringo (Flopos), one of my favoutite wave on the Tour.

In insane conditions, with a huge physical effort to give, all high-leveld riders getting big scores and a big motivation are the elements of this unforgetable day .
I take advantage of every step of the contest to surf these powerful waves so inspiring for me.

Just have a look on this video that summarizes the sequence of the series and towards the unforgetable 20-point final.

This day was a special one, as I was back on the World Tour, I realized that when you are focused, when you ride  with your skill and your mind, repecting and defying  your opponents and the wave you are riding, you can go high.  Believe in you, work hard and do it.

2018 – FRONTON KING Final Day Video

Gran Canaria, Galdar, October 2018

The Fronton King 2018 is a World Cup form and is not part of the APB round, following disagreements with the organisers.
So there are few riders of the World Tour but the level is really high, with guests of choice as Dave Hubbard, André Botha and Guillerme Tamega who are not the least.
Above all, there are many canarian riders who know the spot perfectly and are serious challengers.

Among the stages of the World Tour, the Fronton is the one where the local riders have the highest level.
The 2018 edition offers a prize money of 12,000 to the winner, the strongest in the history of bodyboarding.
For my part, I do not hesitate a minute, with a prize money like this on one of the waves best suited to our sport.
And I want to win.

The organisation and the promotion of the event is perfect, worthy of the world level : live webcasts and comments,  interviews, press realise, concert, demonstration in schools…
The fan-zone on the cliff is crowdy and the online audience is high-level .
During the comp, I keep my hand throughout the heats, I’m really focused and motivated to win.
In the semi-finals, I take tamega out with 18,57 pts and I am happy to face Jonathan Vega, a strong canarian rider, in the final.

During the final, I begin with a 7 followed by an 8-pts wave. Jonathan answers me with a 7,1 pts.
I find a good left tube + invert + rollo scoring 9,5 pts. Jonathan is in a combo position.
However, five minutes later I get a huge tube on a solid right and deep barrel catching 10 pts.
When the bell rings, the socre is 19,5 pts for me and 15,2 for Jonathan Vega.

On this tricky and powerful spot, tension and concentration are essential to succeed.
Now the pressure is dropping. Emotion overwhelms me. My heart is full.

Fronton is a kingdom to be conquered constantly…

Gran Canaria, Galdar – October 2016

After a long 2016 season, I am 4th on the World Tour ranking and the the last step of the APB World Tour 2016 is the Fronton King, on the famous World class wave down my house in Galdar.
I have to defend my 2015 Fronton King champion title.
My progression on the competition is good  and Iam in the final  that plays in a 4-men heat.
I am leading the heat, in front of Pierre-Louis who needs a good wave to get 1st. Uri Valado and Igor Sanchez are combo.
I win the final, keeping my 2015 crown, I am the 2016 Vice World-Champion and Pierre-Louis confirms his 2016 World Champion Title.

2016 – Arica Chilean Challenge Video

July 2016 – Arica, Chile

I arrive in Arica, on July 2016, and I want  to score high and be in the final.
I want to put me points in the pocket for the World Tour ranking.
But my wish is to surf my best, to feel good on this wave that I love.

El Floppo is pumping and the riders all motivated, as usual.
I finish second on the podium after a good final against Ian Campbell.
Enjoy this video and see how lucky I am  :
I ride with high leveled-riders who are my rivals and my friends.

2016 – Video Teahuppo Tahiti Challenge APB

After twelve years long without any Bodyboarding Professional contest, Teahuppo welcomes us with the Sparkgreen Teahupoo Tahiti Challenge  in April-May 2016.

This majestic wave demands a big organization. All is ruled by the APB Team that takes care of any detail  for security, aquatic footages and live webcast.

I feel a big motivation  in front of  these good waves to ride. I want to pay tribute to my friends around there. Mauruuru !

MOTIVATION – Today is The Day

During my last trip in Australia in 2016, I spent long moments alone and I decided to train in any conditions.
Tyge Landa is an excellent film editor and he filmed my training in full nature with a brand new camera with a slow motion system…
Just don’t only ride waves but push your body to the limits. Bodyboarding is much more than riding, its a lifestyle, an art and a motivation to wake up every morning with the will to go further, harder and stronger.

2015 – ARICA – Videos and highlights

August 2015, Chile

Videos for great memories

In the video produced by Boca Negra, we can celebrate my 10th year in Arica. It is a tribute to El Floppos, one of the best wave for bodyboarding in the world.
This spot is definitely a waves machine and a bombs raiser.

The 2015 Arica Chilean Challenge edition has been completely crazy with big scores for many competitors.
I was feeling focused, very motivated and the level of the waves and riders whet my appetite for
fighting and ripping.
A big tribute to
Jared Houston for this red-letter final who showed to anyone that even when everything seems to be lost, you must never give up.

Hope that through these videos you will see what bodyboarding really is : strong riding,  big focus and real friendship.

So long Arica. I already miss you. See you again and again.

Thanks to BOCA NEGRA for editing the video.
Thanks to Igor Sanchez, Jessica Becker and Nicolas Diaz for filming.

The first step, a good victory

First step of the 2015 APB Tour, the Itacoatiara Pro is an incredible contest. I am the 2014 World Champion and I have to defend my title.
With big conditions for freesurf and competition.
The drones filming the action make a revolution in video and allow to understand how strong is the swell and how fluid are our manoeuvres.
Thanks to Canal Whohoo for the interview about my competitor life.
Obrigado Brazil !
Enjoy while watching these super videos.

2015 Freesurf Bodyboarding FSB

Edited when the FreeSurf Bodyboarding FSB World Tour has been launched in early 2015,  with a medley of different shots of the European contenders to the FSB Tour,  this mix-movie shows you how hard is the fight between a rider and the waves, between his body and mother nature, between his failures and his will. The text said on the pics is subtitled in Spanish. You will enjoy PLC, Alex Uranga, other riders and me -on El Fronton wave- simply making our job.

Thanks to Nicolàs Nachaj for editing.
